Dear David I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for the beautiful work you did in creating the flag stand for the 2014 Year 12 groups’ gift to the school. The object you produced is beautiful and such a high quality that it holds a very special place at the entry to our school every day. It is also used on assemblies and at special occasions and plays an important role in the professional way we represent Kincumber High School to the wider community. I am aware that the wood has a wonderful history and I think this adds to the value of the work both in terms of its beauty as an object but as an object that has a history embedded in it. The Year 12 students who presented the gift were very proud of the quality and unique nature of what they were able to present to the school and you were instrumental in allowing them to feel this level of pride. The students and all who see it understand that the quality is a reflection of an artisan being responsible for its creation. I appreciate greatly your generosity in producing the flag pole stand, donating your time, expertise and the materials to enable the project to be completed to such a high standard. Over the last five years, David Arnall and his team have been working collaboratively with us in transforming the grounds our country property in the Matcham Valley. The initial brief was to transform a neglected slope overlooking a valley into a useable space through landscaping. David used his diverse craftsmanship ability to design and build a sandstone pathway and a boardwalk and bridge which lead to a beautiful pergola-like structure that is now known as “The Temple”. The entire area showcases David Arnall’s bespoke masonry and carpentry skills, particularly the building of The Temple which is fully constructed in mortice and tenon woodwork style. Using his many contacts, Dave was able to source unusual quality materials, including local sandstone, vintage recycled hardwood timber and North American cedar shingles. The project surpassed all of our expectations, and inspired us to continue developing our property with David and his team. Recently we built a substantial artistic playspace for our grandchildren, and extended an entertainment area with outdoor cabinetry and sandstone pathways. I have no hesitation in recommending David and his team for projects that require outstanding quality craftsmanship.
